If you’re like most men, you’d rather ignore the pain than see a specialist to find out the cause. While in most cases men experience pain only at the thought of such in the testicles, in others a quick and adequate reaction and urgent consultation with a specialist is actually required. The previous part of the material 7. Spermatocele In a spermatocele, a cyst filled with sperm is found in the appendix, epididymis, of the testicle. Pain is felt in the testicle. Usually, the cyst forms at the base of the epididymis. As it grows, it can also affect the testicle. It is of a benign nature. The spermatocele is usually found during surgical interventions with another purpose. It is considered a widespread phenomenon. In most cases, these cysts are extremely small and do not cause problems. However, when they grow to a size of several centimeters, they create a feeling of heaviness, discomfort and sometimes pain. In the case of a spermatocele, regular follow-up examinations are carried out – whether the formation does not grow and its character does not change. Antibiotic treatment may be prescribed. In some cases, surgical removal of the cyst is necessary. There is a risk of infertility with this operation. 8. Orchitis One third of men who have mumps (mumps) after puberty develop orchitis. In orchitis, there is a painful swelling of the testicles, as a result of inflammation, most often epididymitis. It occurs in bacterial and viral infections such as mumps, brucellosis and sexually transmitted diseases. With orchitis, there is an increase in body temperature, blood in the urine and increasing pain in the penis or testicles, which changes its location. With the condition, it is important to find the actual cause and proceed with treatment quickly. Tests are prescribed to determine the origin of the swelling and the choice of medication – whether to include antibiotics or anti-inflammatory agents. Orchitis, as a result of mumps – the most common cause – remains incurable and with a 50% probability leads to sterility. Shrinking of the testicles in boys is possible in this case. The outcome of the treatment for orchitis as a result of another disease is more favorable. In addition to taking antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications, you may need to wear a supportive bandage for some time. 9. Kidney stonesPain in the testicles can also be caused by stones in the kidneys and urinary tract, which are formed by the accumulation of crystal formations found in the urine. Smaller grains of sand are usually expelled spontaneously from the urinary tract. It is possible that such a stone gets into the bladder, and from there into the urethra, which explains the pain in the scrotum. In order to avoid the risk of kidney and urinary tract stones, sufficient fluids should be taken during the day. 10. Rupture of the testicle The testicles are “enveloped” by a protective shell, the so-called tunica albuginea. In the event of a rupture, a breakthrough of this membrane is observed, which leads to hemorrhage in the scrotum. The cause of rupture is most often trauma, sports, accident, civil accident. In case of testicular rupture, emergency medical care should be obtained within 72 hours of the impact, which increases the chances of saving the testicle by 4-5 times. In consultation with the doctor, all complaints and traumatic events that probably led to the pain must be sorted out. In this case, rapid medical intervention is essential to preserve the integrity of the organ.
