Stress is a strong nervous tension and anxiety affecting the psyche and the body, which in most cases leads to demotivation and emotional breakdown. Studies show that more than half of women in the United States struggle with stress during the holidays. Stress affects physical and mental health, but despite the evidence pointing to this, women prefer unhealthy habits to deal with this situation. Women are always relied on more than men for holiday preparations. They must combine a set of activities: Going to work; event planning; Caring for children; Preparation of gifts; Chores; Cooking etc. A few more factors of concern are related to purchases and whether the available finances would be enough for everything. A crisis moment may occur for them and they may not have the necessary time for themselves, for rest, that they had before. Studies prove that high levels of stress make it difficult for women to relax mentally and physically and resort to harmful habits such as daily use of alcohol or intake of large amounts of food, leading to obesity and a number of other problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Some women under the influence of stress also take a larger amount of drugs to calm the nervous system. Studies show that at Christmas: 59% of women feel sad; 51% feel tired; 56% have sleep problems; 55% have no energy and desire to do any work; 46% reported headaches; 48% for muscle pain; 32% for stomach pain; 26% for chest tightness; 23% for a change in sexual desire. Christmas usually brings happiness and joy. However, many women experience symptoms related to mood swings, anxiety, irritability, etc. The key to dealing with this problem is: organizing a to-do list and including time for yourself. More time should be devoted to rest, relaxation, yoga, walks, reading books, watching favorite shows and other things that bring us pleasure.
