A new study sets out to identify men’s movements during intercourse with the aim of finding alternatives to the traditional missionary position for people who suffer from lower back pain. Low back pain is a problem for many people. It turns out that there are very few studies on the matter regarding the most appropriate positions during sex in such cases, the Canadian scientists point out. The good news is that most men with low back pain can avoid such discomfort during sex. According to the scientists, there will be specialists who will deny the results, since only couples who are in good health take part in it. For this purpose, a system is used that tracks the movements of the spine in 10 men, aged around 29 years. Spinal movements are tracked during intercourse with their female partners in five variations of three positions – facing each other, sideways and back to face. After analyzing the data, the scientists found that men who suffer from lower back pain when bending the spine forward should avoid the side position, use their hips more instead of the spine and practice mainly the back position – back to face. NEWS_MORE_BOX Men who feel pain when stretching the spine should do the exact opposite – avoid the back position and use the side position more often. On the other hand, men who feel pain from simple spinal movements should focus on using their hips, the researchers concluded. The study data is published in Spine.
