Polyisoprene condoms have the same functions as latex condoms – prevention of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. An alternative to standard latex condoms, they have their basic properties and offer the same percentage of security, but with some added benefits. First of all, polyisoprene is a synthetic version of latex and as such is devoid of the proteins in natural latex that are allergens for some people, causing allergic reactions. Although they are relatively rare, they can range from mild skin dryness, irritation and a burning sensation on contact with the latex, to skin peeling and lesions that can quickly cover large areas of the skin’s surface. In the most severe cases of allergic reactions to latex, fever and muscle cramps are described, which escalate into cardiac arrhythmia, tremors, difficulty breathing, sudden drops in blood pressure and anaphylactic shock. Second, polyisoprene condoms create a much more natural feeling during intercourse due to the difference in thickness. While latex condoms are between 0.04 and 0.09 mm thick, polyisoprene condoms are 0.04 to 0.06 mm. Although the difference does not appear to be significant, even consumers without latex allergies are attracted to it and rate it highly in marketing studies. NEWS_MORE_BOX According to the technological data, the material of these products is more stretchy and strong, which reduces the risk of tearing, even in the absence of proper lubrication. Compared to polyurethane condoms, polyisoprene condoms are softer and more elastic, which also contributes to a more natural feeling during intercourse. This makes condoms of this type preferred not only for people with a latex allergy, but also for those looking for new sensations during intimate relations.
