There are some conditions related to our sexuality that are relatively rare, but on the other hand, they can cause physical and emotional pain, and the worries surrounding them are greater. Treating these conditions is usually not an easy task, but the first step to healing is recognizing the problem and seeking help. 1. Constant genital arousal People suffering from this condition are in constant sexual arousal. Symptoms can be different. Women often experience physical signs of arousal, including genital hyperemia, in the absence of thoughts of sex. It is possible for the genitals to be so sensitive that mere contact with certain tissues can cause arousal. Those affected by constant genital arousal sometimes have spontaneous orgasms, which can reach up to a dozen a day. Some sufferers self-stimulate to relieve themselves, but sometimes the arousal can return after hours, minutes or even seconds and last for days, weeks or months. Some of the sufferers explain that they have had such orgasms since childhood, while for others they begin during pregnancy or menopause. It is important that those affected do not postpone the visit to the doctor due to a feeling of shame, but to seek help. 2. Hypersexuality The condition is characterized by an unusually strong sexual desire. People with this diagnosis are obsessed with the thought of sex to the extent that it affects their lifestyle. Those affected tend to practice unsafe sex with many strangers, a behavior that carries the risk of transmitting various infections. A large part of the victims do not accept the condition as a problem and do not turn to specialists for advice. Hypersexuality can occur in people suffering from various diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or after certain brain injuries. It can be “unlocked” by the use of certain medications, such as those prescribed to treat Parkinson’s disease, for example. NEWS_MORE_BOX 3. Asexuality For a minority of people, sex is far from being a part of their lives. Asexuals do not feel a desire for sex, nor are they sexually attracted to others. Purely physically, those affected can have sex, the problem with them is that they don’t want to. Asexuals can have romantic relationships and get married, but they are not physically attracted to their partner, but emotionally. Their attitude towards sex can be expressed as a feeling of complete disgust. Some of those affected masturbate, but they consider this act to be a necessary part of their body’s functions rather than a part of their sexuality. 4. Paraphilia According to the definition of the “Manual of Statistics and Diagnosis of Mental Illnesses”, paraphilia is a mental disorder characterized by sexual fantasies, desire or behavior directed at non-human objects, suffering or humiliation. Paraphilia sufferers cannot get sexual satisfaction from standard sex.Scientists are not sure what causes the condition, but it is likely to be due to certain behaviors or past associations. Many of those affected do not receive help until the condition is discovered by someone else to take notice of the problem.
