Treatment is by taking antibiotics. The most commonly used drugs are metronidazole (Flagyl) and clindamycin, which are available in two forms – for oral administration or vaginal administration. Alcohol should be avoided when taking metronidazole and tinidazole, as the combination causes nausea and vomiting.
