The chance of getting pregnant depends on blood type and is lower for women who have type zero blood, scientists have found. Scientists from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York came to the conclusion that women with zero blood type have a harder time getting pregnant compared to those with other blood types. These women have a reduced number of eggs and a reduced ability to be fertilized. The research conducted by the American scientists for the first time shows the existence of a connection between the blood group of women and their possibility to become mothers. The results of the studies show that the chance of getting pregnant quickly is greatest in women of the second blood group (group A). The conclusions were drawn from data collected by the infertility treatment programs at Yale University and the Montefiore Institute in New York. More than 560 women with an average age of 35 years were studied. Women of the first blood group (group 0) also have the highest amount of follicle-stimulating hormone. Infertility experts note that a high level of follicle-stimulating hormone is a key factor in the reduced number of eggs, or so-called ovarian failure. It is planned to carry out research on the relationship between blood type and fertility in men, the authors of the study add.
