There are a number of health problems that exercise can benefit from, and according to researchers, erectile dysfunction in men can be added to that list. According to experts, exercise can have the same efficacy as medication that helps with difficulty in maintaining an erection. From the study data, it is clear that men who engage in physical exercise can significantly improve erectile function compared to those who do not exercise at all. Specialists even advise that exercise should be included in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The study results are based on data from 505 men who took part in 7 studies that focused on the relationship between the condition and physical exercise conducted between 2004 and 2013. Some of the participants were asked to perform aerobic exercise or ones that are aimed at tightening the muscles in the pelvic floor, while for others no exercises are provided. Erectile function was measured using the International Index of Erectile Function. Erectile dysfunction is also associated with a reduced desire for sex. There are a number of factors that contribute to the development of this condition, including muscle and nerve problems as well as hormonal imbalances. This problem can be a side effect of other health conditions, including obesity, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. Currently, the main treatment for erectile dysfunction is medication. The data was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
