Escapel is not an abortion pill

The emergency contraceptive pill, popularly known as the “morning after pill”, contains the female hormone levonorgestrel, which affects ovulation and prevents the risk of pregnancy in the preovulatory phase. It stops the egg from maturing, and if there is no mature egg, fertilization cannot occur. I.e. ESCAPELLE emergency tablet prevents pregnancy. Therefore, it is wrong to think that it has an abortifacient effect. The action of ESCAPELLE cannot be compared to an abortion. Abortion is a surgical procedure to terminate a pregnancy. ESCAPELLE should also not be compared to abortion pills, which terminate an existing pregnancy by helping to remove the fetus from the woman’s uterus. This type of pill causes the so-called medical abortion. The action of the emergency contraceptive pill has no such effect. ESCAPELLE’s task is completely different – to prevent pregnancy during unprotected sex. This tablet is taken in the first hours after risky sexual contact and aims to prevent pregnancy. The emergency contraceptive pill prevents pregnancy through the action of a hormone that affects the process of becoming pregnant and prevents it from happening. Almost all oral contraceptive pills contain such a hormone, but in emergency contraceptive pills this hormone is in a much higher dose. NEWS_MORE_BOX Emergency tablets can be taken at any time of the menstrual cycle. The only condition for their successful action is that they be used as quickly as possible after risky sexual intercourse. ESCAPELLE is taken once up to 72 hours after unprotected or improperly protected sexual intercourse, preferably up to 12 hours after the act – then the certainty that the emergency tablet will fulfill its task is at the highest percentage. ESCAPELLE does not allow the egg to be fertilized, and if this happened before the emergency contraceptive pill was taken, it would not be able to terminate the pregnancy that had already occurred. Abortion pills are taken early in pregnancy and are never sold in pharmacies without a prescription, unlike emergency contraception pills like ESCAPELLE, which can be bought in any pharmacy without a prescription.
