How often do men think about sex?

It is common knowledge that men think about sex every seven seconds. However, the frequency of thinking about food and sleep equals that of sex, according to a new study. On average, men up to the age of 25 think about sex 18 times a day, and women 10. However, men also think about sleep and food very often. Researcher Trey Fisher, a psychologist at Ohio State University, explains that men generally think about health-related issues more than women, and the thoughts aren’t just about sex. Fisher explains that the claim that men think about sex every seven seconds is a myth. However, scientists have a new method with which they can “read” men’s minds with greater accuracy. Fisher, behind his colleagues, recruited 163 women and 120 men aged about 20 years. The volunteers were given an activity to distract themselves from thoughts of sex. 60% of students should signal every time they think about sex, while the rest – when they think about food and sleep. The results of the study are different from established beliefs. Men think about sex once every hour and women every half hour. In addition, representatives of the stronger sex do not pay more attention to sex than to sleep and food. The findings also suggest that both men and women are influenced by the conditions of the environment they are in, which in turn contributes to their thoughts. The study is limited in that it did not examine the “isolated” thoughts of the participants. In addition, the duration of the sexual fantasy was also not accounted for, and the participants were aged up to 25 years. More research on the subject is forthcoming in order to arrive at the establishment of differences in the sexual histories not only of the representatives of both sexes, but also of the different age groups.
