In recent years, the worldwide campaign for prostate cancer prevention, called Movember (combination of the words mustache and November), has made headlines in Bulgaria. A number of health initiatives attract attention, but Movember does so in a very attractive and interesting way. At the beginning of the month, men shave their faces clean and grow mustaches for 30 days. In addition to changing their face like this, they are also obliged to promote the cause by talking about prostate cancer. The aim is to challenge elderly men to examine their prostate gland as the only way to detect prostate cancer early. In addition to prostate cancer, over the years Movember has expanded the range of men-threatening diseases to include testicular cancer, seen in younger men, and mental illness in the stronger half of humanity. A study shows that one of the characteristics of a real man is responsibility. Respondents indicate that he must be able to bear responsibility for himself and for his loved ones, on whom he is a support. Prophylactic prostate examination is a way for a man to take a responsible approach to his health, and hence to the well-being of his family and the sustainability of his business. Annual prostate screening is standard in developed countries. It should include several steps: testing PSA levels, ultrasound examination, rectal douching. NEWS_MORE_BOX As part of the global prostate cancer campaign in November 2017, specialist urologists at the capital’s Hill Clinic are providing a second expert opinion for patients with detected prostate or kidney cancer free of charge. When the patient hears that he has cancer, he becomes depressed or anxious. It is advisable to get a second opinion from a recognized and experienced doctor who has experience in controlling malignant processes before deciding how to treat it. The consultant can answer the additional questions that have arisen in the meantime and recommend appropriate therapy for the disease.
