MR-TRUS Fusion – targeted biopsy of the prostate

With the latest technology for targeted diagnosis of prostate cancer MR-TRUS Fusion, Anadolu Medical Center has completed its cutting-edge instrumentation for comprehensive patient care. MR-TRUS Fusion is a “smart biopsy” technology combining pinpoint accuracy for prostate cancer diagnosis. Using specific software, magnetic resonance (MR) images are processed and combined in real time with transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images. During the MR-TRUS Fusion procedure, the MR and TRUS images are superimposed and converted into a three-dimensional map. The biopsy needle is guided to marked sites by a robotic arm. MR-TRUS Fusion is a method that successfully detects the foci of prostate cancer and takes a biopsy from these locations with millimeter accuracy. Advantages of MR-TRUS Fusion compared to conventional prostate biopsy: In conventional biopsy, samples are taken from standard sites by transrectal ultrasound. MR-TRUS Fusion creates a three-dimensional map of the site and guides the biopsy needle directly to areas where cancer is suspected. NEWS_MORE_BOX With MR-TRUS Fusion, the detection of clinically significant cancers is higher, especially in patients with a high PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level and for tumors not detected on repeat prostate biopsies. Conventional biopsy can diagnose 70%-75% of prostate cancer. The speed of diagnosis is 95% faster with MR-TRUS Fusion. Conventional biopsy often, depending on the number of samples, increases the risks of infection and septic complications, and repeat biopsy is often required. With MR-TRUS Fusion, the number of samples taken is less and the possibility of an infectious complication is lower. Early diagnosis of cancer and timely treatment saves lives. Anadolu Medical Center offers package programs for early diagnosis of cancer. Our experienced specialists have innovative technologies for imaging and blood diagnostics (including the CTS-method for blood biopsy). Do not postpone preventive examinations!
