First part of the material Epididymitis This is an inflammation of the epididymitis due to an infection. The disease affects adult men between the ages of 19 and 40. In sexually active men, the most common causes of infection are the microorganisms Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. In younger boys and older men, the infection develops as a result of the bacterium Escherichia coli entering the excretory system. Usually, the infection in these two groups is due to individual characteristics of the reproductive system. Trauma Any trauma or injury to the testicles is associated with experiencing pain and discomfort. Most often, trauma to the testicles occurs in an unexpected accident (~85%), encountered in sportsmen, as well as in a direct blow to the area, a road accident and activities such as riding, cycling, etc. In most cases, the pain goes away on its own after a certain period of time. Exceptionally, the incident may require emergency medical attention. Testicular Rupture: This is a serious injury to the testicle in which the tissues around it are affected. Often the condition is accompanied by a collection of blood around the testicle – hematocele. Inguinal hernia With an inguinal hernia, the presence of a bulge in the scrotum is noticed. It occurs with a defect – an opening in the tissues that separate the intestines and groin. A part of the intestine enters this opening, which reaches the scrotum. On examination, a swelling is noticed in the skin bag. The condition may be accompanied by swelling and pain. Orchitis is an inflammation of the testicle due to infection, most often viruses and mumps. Children up to 10 years of age are most often affected by mumps. In rare cases, orchitis may be caused by a bacterial infection.Kidney Stones As an exception, pain in the testicles may occur as a result of kidney and urinary tract stones falling into the groin. TumorAlthough tumors do not cause pain, this possibility cannot be completely ruled out. Exceptionally, the process is associated with experiencing pain and discomfort in the scrotum. Signs and Symptoms of Conditions Causing Testicular Pain Because many health conditions can lead to testicular pain, symptoms and signs vary depending on the cause. At the same time, the same symptom appears in different diseases, which determines the difficulty in making a diagnosis and the risk of receiving timely medical help.
