Successful and influential women are much more likely to cheat on their partners, according to a new study published in the journal Psychological Science. Professional confidence and power in the workplace is a factor that predisposes women to cheating even more often than men, states in the survey. It is a well-known fact that the feeling of power and control over things makes men more secure, confident and sexual, but until now no one has thought about whether it is the same for women. 1561 ladies took part in the study. They answer a series of questions anonymously over the Internet. The volunteers provided information related to their job position and their views on infidelity, trust, risks and opportunities. The results show that there is a strong relationship between power and the possibility of infidelity. This has nothing to do with the idea of simply cheating, but with the idea of the woman keeping things under control and feeling powerful, say the researchers. It is widely believed that men cheat much more often. This is due to the fact that the higher working positions are occupied mainly by representatives of the stronger sex. The more confident a person is in himself, the more secure he becomes among the opposite sex, which feeds the ego and self-esteem. More and more women are starting to occupy leading positions in companies, and this puts them on an equal footing with men, both professionally and intimately.
