Premature orgasm is not only a male problem. Scientists have found a surprisingly high percentage of women who climax too early during sex. 40% of women report suffering from sexual dysfunction, and 3% describe the problem as chronic, according to a survey of 510 Portuguese women. In general, until now, it is believed that premature orgasm occurs more often in men. According to research data, 30% of men suffer from premature ejaculation. The problem is usually also related to the experience of disappointment, shame, insult, feeling of self-doubt, hurt self-esteem, feeling of powerlessness. However, scientists decided to conduct a study to what extent the fairer sex is affected by premature orgasm. It involves women between the ages of 18 and 45 who fill out questionnaires about how often they lose control over having an orgasm and how this affects their emotional state. The results show that 40% of the ladies experienced an orgasm earlier than the desired moment. Sexual problems in women can be looked at from another angle. A 2010 American survey found that 54% of women between the ages of 18 and 30 reported problems reaching orgasm, with experts believing it to be the most common sexual dissatisfaction. Scientists continue with research to learn more about the underlying causes of premature orgasms in women. The study was published in the journal Sexologies.
