Sexual contact in the evening significantly improves the quality of sleep. This information was established using a newly conducted study that was presented at the annual meeting of SLEEP 2023. SLEEP is a joint meeting of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Society for Sleep Research. According to the conducted research, every third adult shares about a better quality of their sleep after sexual contact. Through a survey, it was also established that the medication administered for insomnia had a similar or even worse effect on the sleep of the participants. Sexual desire, arousal, and orgasm are mediated by complex but not yet fully understood interactions of the somatic and autonomic nervous systems. At the central level, the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems appear to play a significant role in various factors of sexual response. It is generally known that regular sexual contact can improve health. Sexual contact can be beneficial in lowering stress levels and distancing yourself from everyday worries. During intercourse, the body releases endorphins and oxytocin, which promote relaxation, resulting in lower anxiety levels and the risk of depression. The study involved 53 adults who completed an eight-question online survey shared on social media. Eighty-nine percent of respondents were between the ages of 25 and 49, and 53% of them were women. From the results obtained, it was found that 75% of the respondents slept better after having sex before bed, and in general, almost all participants noted a moderate improvement in their sleep during these nights. According to sixty-four percent of them, sleeping pills have a similar or even worse effect on the quality of their sleep compared to sexual intercourse. According to scientists, people fall asleep faster after sex. However, very little research exists to test this relationship. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out additional analyzes with the help of which to answer still unanswered questions.
