By injecting them with mesenchymal stem cells, Egyptian scientists were able to restore normal function to damaged ovaries. Researchers from the National Research Center conducted experimental studies on 45 laboratory mice with chemically induced ovarian failure. 15 of the experimental animals were injected with stem cells, another 15 – with a placebo, and the remaining 15 were not subjected to any intervention. Two weeks after the stem cell treatment, the animals in the first group fully recovered their ovarian function. Eight weeks after therapy, hormone levels stabilized and returned to normal. Although the scientific study was carried out in rats, its authors are adamant that the results they obtained will be the same in humans and will help in the treatment of female infertility. Despite the encouraging results, there is still much research to be done until stem cell therapy began to be applied to women with reproductive problems.
