Hormone replacement therapy in men with low testosterone helps regain a good figure. However, experts still refrain from recommending the appointment of testosterone for the purpose of reducing the waistline and harmful heart-pressing fat, as more research needs to be conducted in the direction of safety and fixing the effect. This was discussed at the 19th European Congress on Obesity in France this year. However, the fact is that some of the volunteers who underwent hormone replacement therapy for the longest time lost about 15 kg and reduced their waist circumference by about 10 cm. They also improved their blood pressure, blood sugar, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol values . They also regain their vitality and desire for physical activities. The conclusion is from a 5-year study conducted in an American urology clinic and included 214 obese men in middle or third age. For the first month and a half, the volunteers were given two testosterone injections per week, after which the number was reduced to one injection every three months. Therapy with this male sex hormone is usually prescribed for low levels in the body and erectile dysfunction. However, long-term use of testosterone is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer. On the other hand, studies have repeatedly shown low testosterone in obese men, especially those with diabetes. In these cases, such therapy could be beneficial, experts believe.
