White discharge – the disease cases (Part I)

In general, it is normal to secrete vaginal discharge, which has different characteristics for each woman – such as quantity, smell, consistency and color shade from clear to pale milky, depending on the day of the menstrual cycle. The changes related to the release of the secretion do not go unnoticed by the woman – a larger amount is released during ovulation, during sexual excitement and during breastfeeding. All these features, which are well known to a woman when she enjoys good health, should not cause concern. However, any other change in color, smell or consistency that seems unusual, especially with complaints such as vaginal itching and burning, is a sign of infection or other unpleasant condition. The smell of vaginal discharge in a pregnant woman and with poor hygiene also differs. The secretion that is released from the mucous membrane of the vagina and cervix contains dead cells and microorganisms, which requires maintaining good hygiene and predisposes to the reproduction of disease-causing microorganisms under predisposing conditions.
