World premiere of bloodless prostate surgery

For the first time in Bulgaria, prostate surgery is being performed without incisions. It is performed on a patient with an enlarged prostate at the Hill Clinic and is performed without an incision using a state-of-the-art laser. Prof. Dr. Fernando Sancha, leading surgeon-urologist, and his team are specially here for this purpose. The technique used is the second generation Piranha laser enucleation and vaporization system. According to specialists, the equipment improves the quality of the surgical intervention and the comfort of the operator. For an enlarged prostate, open surgery is usually performed, where blood loss is present, there is a risk of incontinence and complications. By using the laser system, a bloodless alternative to the intervention is given. After spinal anesthesia, the prostate tissue is removed through the natural openings of the body through the apparatus. The operation takes place within 40-50 minutes. The clinic informs that the patient has a heart problem, which entails the risk of performing the traditional surgical intervention with a scalpel and full anesthesia, and this method solves the problem. The operation with the laser system is performed for the first time not only in Bulgaria. It is a kind of world premiere, for which the manufacturer Wolf chooses our country and the capital’s Hill Clinic. Urologists at the clinic already have accumulated experience in bloodless removal of prostate adenoma. For three years they have been working with Green Laser (GreenLight) under the guidance of Prof. Sancha. “The system is designed to be operated intuitively and to the maximum extent ensures a bloodless, precise and gentle operation. As a surgeon, this tool allows me to provide patients with the best treatment, even when their prostate is over 100 years old.” shares Prof. Sancha. The system offers maximum security, cutting speed, choice of laser fibers of different size depending on the need of each patient, commented the team. Because the scope has a rotating head, it enables a 360-degree view and makes the surgeon as easy as possible.
